Seen and Unseen

A talk given by Dr llias which about " Seen and unseen:Privacy". In this talk we are given chance to see some appealing slide show which is about the rich and the poor. In the slides, there are clearly shown that the differences between the rich boy and the poor boy before and after entering the university. Before they step in university, they both having the same thoughts which are about having luxurious house, driving branded car and having a beautiful wife. However, after entering the university, everything has totally changed.The message that Dr llias wants to deliver to us is that nothing in this world is certainly all of us can achieve. Sometimes it may turn into something that unexpected by us.Overall to Dr llias talk is actually very educating and it remind me that we should learn to be satisfied and appreciate what we have now.

Bukit Jenaton( Durian Valley)

Project 8 is about the the community construction. I am selected to be the group leader in the Bukit Jenaton site by coincident because the leader before is a girl whose surname same as me Lam. The regulation for a leader in the project is a boy. The duty as a leader is to distribute the work to the group member and the most important is to ensure the presence of each member. Besides, as a leader, I also have to be punctual and be responsible . In this two day exciting adventure, I have really learnt also. For example, learning how to fix the water splinker, expose to many type of plants and their uses. This situation really like what Dr Syarmila has said "from nothing to something".

In project 7, we are given a task about using bamboo to build a 1m x1m x1m cube and also make a gift from the remaining bamboo. This assignment is actually preparation for us to face the community construction. Constructing a cube using bamboo is a problem for me since I am not a scout or a kadet remaja during secondary school. However, with the help my friend who is a boy scouts before this, I finally manage to complete the cube.Doing anything also have the first. Never try you will never know.

This is the tree which presence at the site. The name of this tree is Cannon Ball Tree.

Besides that, we are also given another task by Dr Azizan which is about the biodiversity. Study of biodiversity is important for urban planning. This is to minimize the destruction toward our environment. Additionally, biodiversity study enable to understand the environment before carrying any developments. Through this urban planning project, I realize before doing something we must have precise plan and teamwork is the key to succeed in a project where many people involve .

Assignment 6 is urban planning which is about designing a new premise for the new faculty of design. Architecture and interior design will be the courses in this new school of design and this also meant that this two courses will be separated from school of housing, building and planning(HBP) by 2013. There are 25 groups involved in designing the premise and each group is led by planner. All these groups have different themes. As for our group, we get the theme of food precinct. Site 9 is the place we obtained. The name of our group is Sky Nation. The member of Sky Nation is Shazlisa Binti Sham( leader), Lee Chee Ken,He Xue Wei,Wang Xue Ke, Loh Wai Jeng and me.

Today is the merdeka eve. Everyone of us is exited because our school, HBP is honour being invited to be involve in the merdeka celebration activity at Penang Times Square. Malaysia is now celebrating 52th years of independent. Before this day arrived, we have done lot of preparations like doing rehearsal how to release the helium balloons. And now we are at the Penang Times Square waiting the arrival of the Merdeka day.

Our project 5a is about HBP Balloonmen. In this task, we have to form a group of five people. Then, we need to design custom for our group by using the sarong and the mask that we have done previously in project 2c. We have to present our group custom in the custom parade which will be held on Friday 28 August. The best outfit group will be selected to be the celebrity group which will release the balloons at the Penang Times Square fountain.
